The Whitworth Forensics team took second place out of 18 schools at the University of Oklahoma debate tournament on February 11, 2017. Whitworth finished ahead of national rivals including Colorado Christian University, Oral Roberts University, Southern Methodist University and the University of Oklahoma.
Jacob Farrell ’18 was undefeated in the six preliminary rounds and took second place. James Eccles ’17 was a semifinalist (top four), and Micah Allred ’17 and Kat Duarte ’17 were quarterfinalist (top eight).
Jesse Domingo ’18 and Sara Muscente ’18 were quarterfinalists in the junior varsity division, and Tucker Wilson ’20 was a quarterfinalist in the novice division.
Tucker Wilson was the top novice speaker and Kat Duarte was the 2nd place varsity speaker.
The team’s next tournament will be February 18-19 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR.
